DDC Dental Clinic: A Serene and Elegant Dental Experience

Blending Tradition and Modernity in Taipei

The DDC Dental Clinic stands out from other dental clinics with its unique design and thoughtful integration into the old residential streetscape. The exterior features a combination of grey tile cladding and a transparent facade, allowing visual permeability and enhancing an open and accessible character to the neighborhood. At nighttime, the clinic subtly illuminates the street front, resembling a crystalline box.

Inside, the clinic is divided into different areas, each defined by a variety of materials that serve specific functions. The reception area showcases a concept of volume, while the treatment rooms incorporate linear elements. The neutral palette used throughout the clinic further contributes to the calming environment, helping to alleviate patients' anxiety.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was balancing contamination control and visual transparency in the treatment area. To address this, the sterilization room was strategically placed in the center, allowing for efficient workflow and demonstrating the standard procedures of infection control to reassure patients. Additionally, over-sized patterned glass was used to maintain privacy while ensuring space continuity.

The DDC Dental Clinic, completed in 2017, spans 210 square meters and is a testament to the creativity and technical expertise of the design team led by Chia-Yi Kuo and Yi-Chiao Huang. Their attention to detail and commitment to creating a serene and elegant dental experience have earned them recognition, including the Bronze A' Design Award in 2019 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design.

With its unique blend of tradition and modernity, the DDC Dental Clinic sets a new standard for dental clinics, offering a welcoming and calming environment for patients. By prioritizing design and innovation, Architectural Object Design has successfully transformed the perception of dental clinics, making them spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
